The Lodge
Basking in a dense habitat of abundant animal species and birdlife, Royal Madikwe offers the perfect luxury space for families and groups of friends to soak up the splendour of the African bush in the barefoot comfort of their own company. Royal Madikwe's philosophy is focussed around the personal preferences of the guests with a menu that is flexible and less structured, featuring sophisticated yet wholesome cuisine inspired by Africa's diverse cultures and cosmopolitan influences.  The menu also unmasks gourmet game dishes to mirror the wilderness and abundance of the Madikwe Game Reserve.
Using only the freshest seasonal ingredients, the accents fall on local produce to arouse the senses, with each meal flawlessly matched with award-winning South African wines and a breathtaking setting.

After an exhilarating early morning game drive guests can enjoy an unhurried seasonal inspired breakfast on the lower deck overlooking the waterhole as nature shows off it's wildlife theatre.  Afternoon High Tea caters for a sumptuous al fresco affair with guests indulging in divine delicacies as cheeky monkeys leap through the trees.  Dinnertime is a lavish feast, whether enjoyed formally in the elegant dining room with crystal and chandeliers or outside where the glow of a Boma fire and the singing of the ethnic choir serve up the perfect backdrop to gourmet excellence under African skies.

Price Range and Payments PRICE RANGE: ZAR 4,000 - 70,000 Per Night
Depending on the number of Guest, Season and Exclusivity the rates varies.

Clients are recommended to include in the enquiry, the required grade of Exclusivity, as it will have an impact on the quoted price.

PAYMENT AND DEPOSIT ( 25 % )
A 25% deposit will secure the reservation upon written confirmation. Deposits made to guarantee reservation are non-refundable. The 25% deposit can be paid 10 days after confirmation or a guarantee must be provided that the 25% deposit will be paid 8 weeks prior to arrival. Full and final payment is due 4 weeks prior to arrival. There is a 3% surcharge on credit card payments. Extras may be settled at the residence.

CARDS NOT ACCEPTED
Diners and American Express cards are not accepted for payment at the residence.

RATES
Rates are valid at the time of booking, but until such time as full and final payment has been received, the price is subject to change without notice. In the unlikely event of there being an unscheduled postponement of a reservation caused by bad weather strikes or any other matter beyond our control, it is understood that expenses incurred will be for the client's account.

Currency Payment within camp can be made with South African Rand, Travellers Cheques, Master Card or Visa Card.

Return private charters to Royal Madikwe can be arranged. We believe that the experience and impression of Royal Madikwe should start the minute our guests arrive in Johannesburg.
Relaxed, Luxurious, Exclusive and Special – This is the manner in which our guests are received and transferred to Royal Madikwe. A personal escort will greet our guests directly off their international / domestic flight in Johannesburg and assist them through immigration, baggage control & customs. Guests will then be escorted to where their personal chauffer will be waiting in a luxury vehicle or limousine to transfer them to Rand or Lanseria Airport. Should the guests not be flying into Johannesburg, we will collect them from any address requested within Johannesburg. Once on board, passengers can relax and enjoy the one hour flight into Madikwe Game Reserve where their ranger & tracker will welcome them and drive them to the residence.

BY ROAD - FROM JOHANNESBURG ( 4 Hours Drive )
• From Johannesburg International Airport pick up the R24 Johannesburg.
• At Gilloolys interchange take the N3 North to Pretoria.
• At the Buccleuch interchange go straight at fork onto the N1 South signposted
Roodepoort/Bloemfontein.
• Take the M5 Randburg (Byers Naude Drive turn off, you will see BP on the corner) and turn right
towards Muldersdrift.
• Continue on this road until the N14/R28 Krugersdorp Highway. Take on-ramp to Krugersdorp.
• Continue until major 4-way stop. Turn right at stop. Sign reads Tarlton /Ventersdorp (N14).
• Approximately 10km from 4-way stop, turn right at T-junction.
• Take first left onto Ventersdorp N14
• Continue for approx 11km, at 4 way stop turn right onto R24 to Magaliesburg
• In the town of Magaliesburg, turn left onto the R509 towards Derby / Koster / Swartruggens.
As you enter Koster turn right (after garage on corner)signposted to Swartruggens (easy to miss
this turning)
• At T Junction, turn left onto Zeerust Road, go through Swartruggens. Keep going straight, you will
go through Swartruggens toll gate(R46 toll fee) Keep on this road until you enter Zeerust. Please
ignore all signs to Madikwe before Zeerust and enter the town itself.
• At 4th intersection into the town of Zeerust there is a sign indicating the R47 to
GABORONE/Madikwe to the right. Take this right turn.
• Travel approximately 90km along this road towards Gaborone and then look for the
WONDERBOOM GATE into the Madikwe Game Reserve on your right(you will see Bush House
signs along the way). Wonderboom Gate is the second gate on this road. (Do not turn into the first
gate which is the Abajaterskop Gate.)
• Once through the gate, take the first turning on your right after Bush House (on your left),
continue along this road until you see Royal Madikwe on your left.

BY ROAD - FROM PRETORIA ( 3.5 Hours Drive )
• From Pretoria take the N4 Highway to Rustenburg.
• Keep to the N4 which bypasses Rustenburg and head for Swartruggens.
• There is a R45 toll gate at Swartruggens.
• From Swartruggens, continue on to Zeerust. Please ignore all signs to Madikwe before Zeerust
and enter the town itself.
• At 4th intersections into the town of Zeerust there is a sign indicating the R47 to GABORONE to
the right. Take this right turn.
• Travel approximately 90km along this road towards Gaborone and then look for the
WONDERBOOM GATE into the Madikwe Game Reserve on your right. Wonderboom Gate is the
second gate on this road. (Do not turn into the first gate which is the Abajaterskop Gate.)

FROM APRIL TO OCTOBER
Summer clothes can still be worn during the mid day warmth, but an insulated jacket, hat, scarf and gloves are strongly advised for the cold morning and evening game drives as temperatures can be extreme.

Due to our variety of activities and the diversity of the reserve, we recommend a stay of at least 5 nights with a minimum of 3 nights.

SAFARI ACTIVTIES
Royal Madikwe offers itself on an exclusive basis so that every interest and expectation can be realized. All activities are arranged around guest’s wishes.

HEALTH
Madikwe is a Malaria Free area and therefore no anti malaria medication is required. Royal Madikwe does have Medical Emergency Cover with Med-Evac that will cover the evacuation and treatment of Medical Emergencies, however every case is determined individually and therefore no guarantees are given. We do advise that all guests take out personal travel insurance.
High / Low Seasons EVERY SEASON OFFERS IT*S UNIQUE SAFARI EXPERIENCE -, with no one time being the best.

Temperatures range from 10°C (50°F) to 30°C (86°F) during the day and from 5°C (41°F) to 10°C (50°F) during the night.

SUMMER – December to March
Temperatures range from 15°C (59°F) to 40°C (104°F) during the day and from 15°C (59°F) to 20°C (68°F) during the night.

AUTUMN – April to May
Temperatures range from 10°C (50°F) to 30°C (86°F) during the day and from 5°C (41°F) to 10°C (50°F) during the night.

WINTER – June to August
Temperatures range from 5°C (41°F) to 25°C (76°F) during the day and from below –2°C (27°C) to 10°C (50°F) during the night.

RESERVATION PROCEDURE
A written request is required to proceed with a reservation. Written confirmation of the reservation is forwarded via e-mail. Once the reservation is confirmed the client is liable for cancellation fees.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations are only effective on receipt of written notification.

Cancellation penalties are levied as follows:
- Less than 6 weeks notice prior to arrival - 50% of total invoiced amount.
- Less than Four weeks notice prior to arrival - 100% of total invoiced amount.
Cancellation penalties for Easter, 1June-31July and 21 Dec -4Jan
– Less than 12 weeks notice prior to arrival – 100% of total invoiced amounts.

In the event of premature departure the full extent of the stay, as originally booked and confirmed, will be charged. Refunds of deposits / prepayments for bookings are at the discretion of management and are dependent on the ability to re-let the residence.

INSURANCE
It is strongly recommended that all clients take out comprehensive travel insurance including full medical cover, as well as cancellation and curtailment cover.

TRANSFER POLICY TO ROYAL MADIKWE
Please refer to our reservations office for road or air transfer requests. “The owners, management and employees of Royal Madikwe shall not be held responsible or liable in any way in the event of death, injury or disability of any Royal Madikwe guest, or any loss of property or damage to property belonging to any Royal Madikwe guest that may occur during the transfer of guests by any transfer company to or from Royal Madikwe, either by road or by air travel”

CHILD POLICY
The dangerous nature of the wilderness environment must be taken into account when booking children on a safari. A child -minding service is available by special arrangement, but parents / guardians are solely responsible for children around unfenced pools and high decks. All ages welcome. No children under the age of four are allowed on game-drives.

SAFETY POLICY
Safety Royal Madikwe is fenced but this does not mean that we can guarantee safety; we require that guests do not walk alone at night. A ranger will always be available to escort guests to and from their suites.
