Rundu Town

Rundu is the largest city in the Kavango Region in northern Namibia, on the border with Angola on the banks of the Okavango River. The town is home to many of Namibias well-known Kavango woodcarvers an ancient craft, handed down over generations and still flourishing today. Wooden carvings are made and offered for sale at the Khemo Open Market or the Mbungura Woodcraft Co-operative, which has its main workshop and office in the town. Pubs and bars at some accommodation facilities provide great sundowner spots, while pub crawling at local shebeens (bars) in Rundu makes for an interesting local adventure. Rundu is accessible via its commercial airport or road, and is an ideal stop over before venturing into the wild Kavango and Caprivi bush lands.
